Veterinarians
NovaVet Diagnostics is committed to providing professional diagnostic pathology services to the veterinary, paraveterinary and research community. We are a non-corporatized boutique style laboratory with a strong focus on personal involvement, professional connection, and accountability. If you visit our laboratory, you will notice a collegiate atmosphere amongst the staff. This is the foundation for solid and supportive relationships with our clients, driven by the philosophy that strong professional relationships facilitate the best outcome for animals of all species.
NovaVet is an independent veterinary diagnostic pathology laboratory centrally located for efficient service of veterinary clinics in the Perth metro region. NovaVet is wholly veterinary owned, and the directors have in excess of 30 years of experience in diagnostic pathology. Both directors have spent time in clinical practice and retain strong ties to the veterinary profession. This insight has evolved into a desire to deliver pathology services differently, allowing clinics to select the way they order pathology services, from ordering a courier, to tracking sample progress within the laboratory and requesting additional tests. Our mission is to provide clinically relevant information in a consistent and convenient format so that veterinarians and clinic staff can concentrate on patient care.

URINE PROTEIN CREATININE RATIOSpecies: Non Specific Class: Urine Code: UPCR Turnaround Time: Same day Sample Requirements: 1mL urine in sterile container or red top tube Test Information: This is used to quantify renal protein loss in the presence of chronic renal disease, renal tubular damage or tubular dysfunction. May be affected by other factors including haematuria and inflammation. |
DELUXE NEUROLOGICAL PANEL FELINESpecies: Feline Class: Profile Code: NVDNPC Turnaround Time: Up to 5 days Sample Requirements: 1mL whole blood in EDTA, 2mL whole blood in plain clotted/ red top tube, 0.5mL in fluoride oxalate (grey top) tube Test Information: Comprehensive health profile targeting patients with clinical signs of central and peripheral neurological disease. The test includes: CBC, CK, AST, ALP, ALT, gGT, total bilirubin, amylase, DGGR lipase, cholesterol, triglycerides, urea, creatinine, Na, K, Cl, Na: K ratio, glucose, total protein, albumin (and calculated globulins), A: G ratio, serum bile acids (X1), Ca, P, urine SG, Toxoplasma IgG, and Cryptococcus sp serology. |
ESSENTIAL HEALTH SCREEN FELINESpecies: Feline Class: Profile Code: NVESSF Turnaround Time: Same day Sample Requirements: 1mL whole blood in EDTA, 1ml whole blood in plain clotted/ red top tube, 0.5mL in fluoride oxalate tube, 5mL urine in a sterile container Test Information: This screen combines a CBC with a comprehensive selection of biochemistry parameters and electrolytes as well as a urine specific gravity. The screen includes ALT, ALP, lipase, cholesterol, urea, creatinine, Na, K, Cl, glucose, total protein, albumin (and calculated globulins), and a urine specific gravity. |
ESSENTIAL HEALTH SCREEN CANINESpecies: Canine Class: Profile Code: NVESSC Turnaround Time: Same day Sample Requirements: 1mL whole blood in EDTA, 1ml whole blood in plain clotted/ red top tube, 0.5mL in fluoride oxalate tube, 5mL urine in a sterile container Test Information: This screen combines a CBC with a comprehensive selection of biochemistry parameters and electrolytes as well as a urine specific gravity. The screen includes ALT, ALP, lipase, cholesterol, urea, creatinine, Na, K, Cl, glucose, total protein, albumin (and calculated globulins), and a urine specific gravity. |
BASIC GIT SCREEN CANINESpecies: Canine Class: Biochemistry Code: NVGITC Turnaround Time: Same day Sample Requirements: 1mL whole blood in plain clotted/ red top tube Test Information: This screen is designed to supplement existing data from patients with gastrointestinal disease. The screen includes estimation of TLI, cobalamin, and folate. |
BASIC GIT SCREEN FELINESpecies: Feline Class: Biochemistry Code: NVGITF Turnaround Time: Same day Sample Requirements: 1mL whole blood in plain clotted/ red top tube Test Information: This screen is designed to supplement existing data from patients with gastrointestinal disease. The screen includes estimation of cobalamin, and folate. |
FIV/FELV RIMSpecies: Feline Class: Infectious, Serology Code: SFIVFELV Turnaround Time: Same day Sample Requirements: 0.5mL whole blood in EDTA, plain clotted/ red top tube or lithium heparin tube Test Information: Rapid test for detection of antibodies against FIV (naturally occurring) and detection of persistent FeLV viraemia |
