Samples should be well sealed and stored in a cool environment avoiding, temperature shocks and refrigeration. Interim reports and sensitivities are released as soon as possible, however, definitive identification of organisms may take longer. Aerobic culture includes sensitivity, if appropriate. Sensitivities provided are based on the site of the lesion and the organism isolated. If additional sensitivities are required this should be requested as soon as possible, as in vitro colony mutation affecting resistance may occur over time. If you require any further assistance regarding sample types and transport please contact the laboratory.
