CYTOLOGY FLUID ANALYSIS

Fluid analysis is typically performed on body cavity effusions e.g. pleural, pericardial and peritoneal. Other cystic lesions are usually treated as routine FNA cytology specimens. Fluid analysis includes a total nucleated cell count, total protein concentration and cytological evaluation. Other biochemical testing may be included as appropriate.
