Bone marrow evaluation is indicated for further evaluation of non-regenerative anaemia and other cytopenias. In the case of non-regenerative anaemia a minimum database screen is advised prior to bone marrow collection to exclude secondary anaemia e.g. due to renal disease. Bone marrow evaluation includes full haematology, and wherever possible it is recommended that both aspirates and a core biopsy are collected from the bone marrow. For additional information see our fact sheet on bone marrow biopsy technique and evaluation.
